This is a very good series, written by a husband and wife team, with a very interesting Finnish detective, Joona Linna, an odd but likable duck who has marvelous instincts and intense combat training.In this fifth book we don't see Linna for a while but once we do it's obvious he's in very bad shape, torn apart by family troubles. He's gone into hiding but events lead one detective to find him and I found this very sketchy. These are supposed to be intelligent people but they do the dumbest things. That's been true of this book and the last one, and I really hope the pair of authors isn't losing it. It's a fun series but it may be going downhill.At more than 500 pages it's more than a bit bloated yet we get very little information on the many characters who are not Joona Linna. I had hoped this would change as the books went on but we still know next to nothing about any other characters.The story itself is very good. A serial killer is watching and videotaping women from outside their homes, uploading the film to the internet and then stabbing them to death. The m.o. matches a killer who's sitting in jail. Did they arrest the wrong man? Joona is on the case .. and of course sees things in unique ways that help lead to the killer.This used to be one of my top five Scandinavian series. It is slipping but probably still in the top ten.It's best to read the series in order, to appreciate Linna's personal journey. Books in the series are: The Hypnotist, The Nightmare, The Fire Witness, The Sandman, The Stalker.

Lars Kepler’s books (actually a married couple) are some of the best books I’ve ever read. They keep me questing, they are complicated and so well written! I hate that it takes so long for us to get the books in the US. I understand The Sandman is coming out soon and I read it 2 years ago! I believe their newest is The Rabbit Hole. Can’t wait to read it!

Another awesome novel from Lars Kepler. Last we saw him, Joona Linna was walking into the ocean and declared dead. So Margot, a very pregnant police officer, leads the investigation into the murders of several women whose creepy stalky videos were posted on Youtube shortly before their deaths. There are new faces (seriously, you'd never expect an 8-month pregnant lady to be such a badass) and many old ones (the original hypnotist, Erik Maria Bark is back). I knew whodunit pretty quickly, but the last chapters are not for people with heart conditions. Is the next book out yet? How about now?

This was by far the best in the Joona Linna series - in spite of its length I could not put this book down - it had many twists and turns and suspenseful surprises. I had to update myself on the series as it had been awhile since the last book - but this is worth the wait and the read.

I loved this one almost as much as The Hypnotist. Both really great reads by the husband and wife author duo, Lars Kepler.

A thriller about a killer who films their victims. The killer emails the video to the police and then kills the subject.

What a great book. Full of suspense and twists and turns. Riveting.

Absolutely love this series! The characters are so well developed, it's almost as if you know them personally. I re-read these books just like I would watch a movie I liked, again and again. The writing is that good.
